Oxford is famous for it’s University, which was established more than 900 years ago and is therefore the oldest in the United Kingdom. Even today, this university determines the appearance of the city. Through the large amount of students and the various beautiful ancient colleges, Oxford combines history and modern life.
Nevertheless, this town is more than ancient buildings and young folk. The large amount of pubs and restaurants create a friendly atmosphere that invites one to sit down and take a break. The large shopping center and the Covered Market contribute to this feeling of relaxation and will give pleasure to all those keen on shopping.
Those interested in more serious entertainment will also enjoy Oxford. They might enjoy an evening at one of the 10 theatres and 5 cinemas. Oxford also boasts various museums and exhibitions providing a deep insight into the history of this city and its numerous famous inhabitants.
