Accommodation with English host families

Accommodation with host families in Oxford is highly recommended. Those who prefer a more central location can stay at one of the best youth hostels in England. Early booking is strongly advised due to the very high demand.

The youth hostel is centrally located near the train station. Guests stay in shared rooms with bunk beds as well as a shower and WC. For accompanying adults, single and double rooms are available — some with private shower and WC, while others have bathrooms located on the same floor.

  • Day 1 – Departure from your home location Your school trip to London begins in your home town. The overnight coach journey takes you through the Netherlands, Belgium and France to Calais.
  • Tag 2 - Calais – Dover – Dover Castle ODER Canterbury – Ankunft in Oxford From Calais, you cross the English Channel by ferry heading towards Dover. In the distance, the famous white cliffs of this historic fortress town come into view.

    DOVER CASTLE: At Dover Castle, England’s oldest fortress, you’ll travel back in time — from medieval history to the dramatic underground tunnels and wartime passages of the Second World War.

    STOP IN CANTERBURY: Enjoy a stroll through the medieval streets and visit the famous cathedral.

    ARRIVAL IN OXFORD: You will arrive at your destination in the early evening. The host family coordinator will greet you at the coach before the host families welcome and collect their guests.
  • Day 3 – Day Trip: Bath or Bristol BATH: Visit Britain’s most famous historic bathing complex, the »Roman Baths«. A relaxed walking tour through the medieval city — with its elegant, Jane Austen–style atmosphere — is highly recommended.

    BRISTOL: Young, vibrant and full of character, Bristol is a city with a rich maritime history. Visit Brunel’s famous ship, the SS Great Britain, and cross the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge — if you have a head for heights. Following the footsteps of the world-famous artist Banksy, you’ll also discover unique street art throughout the city.
  • Day 4 – Oxford – The University City Guided city tour to famous Harry Potter filming locations, including entry to Christ Church College, the Bodleian Library, and the Radcliffe Camera. Further attractions include Oxford Castle, Carfax Tower, the Museum of the History of Science, the Ashmolean Museum, and the Botanic Garden. Alternatively, enjoy traditional punting along the side branches of the River Thames (Isis & Cherwell).
  • Day 5 – Day Trip: Cotswolds (Warwick Castle) – Gloucester COTSWOLDS:
A romantic rolling landscape dotted with picturesque villages and green meadows. A stop in the charming village of Bourton-on-the-Water is perfect for a relaxing picnic. A visit to the impressive Warwick Castle is also highly recommended.

    GLOUCESTER:
The largest city in the Cotswolds features medieval monuments and historic buildings along pedestrian-friendly streets. The 1,300-year-old Gloucester Cathedral also served as a filming location for the Harry Potter movies.
  • Day 6 – Farewell & Departure – London – Crossing Dover/Calais FAREWELL to the host families in the morning at the coach.

    GREENWICH:
Visit the National Maritime Museum and the Royal Observatory with the famous Prime Meridian. Afterwards, enjoy a boat trip on the River Thames to Westminster.

    LONDON TOUR:
Experience world-famous attractions such as Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, as well as modern landmarks like The Shard and The Gherkin – with or without a city guide.

    DEPARTURE:
Today an eventful school trip comes to an end. In the evening, departure for Dover and ferry crossing back to the continent to Calais.
  • Day 7 – Arrival Back Home Your London school trip draws to a close with an overnight journey through France, Belgium and the Netherlands, before you arrive back home later in the day — full of new experiences and unforgettable memories.
